Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a gentle health promoting practice originating in China that anyone can do.  It strengthens the body’s overall vitality, increases longevity, and relaxes the mind and emotions.  Many qi gong and taiji masters in China are elderly, in their 80s and older, outwardly appearing old, but having the vitality of someone much younger. Movement Therapy

Movement therapies support the body in finding the most efficient and pain-free ways to stand, sit walk, and perform other everyday movements.  The result is increased flexibility and range of motion in the joints, and reduced pain and tension in the muscles.  I am certified in two forms of movement therapy: Bones for Life® and Biosomatics®.  These movement therapies help the brain to ‘re-wire’, to move beyond habitual ways of moving and find alternate ways that bring greater comfort and ease in body and mind. Reiki

Reiki (ray-kee) is a gentle healing method that can reduce pain, lower stress, and aid in increasing feelings of serenity and peace.  Anyone can learn this practice to use for self-care or to help others.  In my private practice, I have found great success in offering Reiki to persons who are experiencing severe pain or are in weakened states of health, such as with those who are being treated for cancer, the dying, and others for whom a light, gentle healing approach is needed. Massage Your Loved Ones

In this class, you will learn basic therapeutic techniques for massaging family members and friends*.  Massage is a wonderful way to relax tight muscles, improve circulation, and reduce stress.  You will learn massage techniques that can be done fully clothed, as well as methods that use lotion or massage oil**.  Touch is a basic human need.  Massaging family members and friends can help to meet this need. Infant Massage for Parents

I offer classes for parents to learn how to massage their babies.  Touch is critical to life, especially to babies.  Lack of physical touch has been associated with failure to thrive, slower physical and intellectual development, lowered immunity, lowered capacity to bond with other humans, poorer social skills, lack of impulse control, and increased propensity toward violence.  (more…)
